Getting Good Visibility on Google
Most website owners want good visibility on the number one search engine in the US (and most countries around the globe), a.k.a. Google. However, everyone knows it is particularly difficult to rank in Google’s search results due to the level of competition.
Good thing research has shown hitting the top five is just as good as making top spot on Google’s first page. So if you own a good spot on the first page of the SERPs, and positioning isn’t as important as you may have thought, why not work on getting more visibility instead?
Here are some ways to start getting good visibility on Google:
Offer to Write for Relevant Blogs with Good Visibility
Eric wrote about guest blogging as an SEO strategy. True enough, aside from the backlinks it can give your site, the posts referencing your website can appear in the SERPs! The key here is to select blogs which (1) are
relevant to your site, (2) have good credibility/authority, and (3) have good visibility in the SERPs.
Make Use of Article Sites
I am quite biased in favor of article sites rather than press release sites. First of all, the former do not allow any marketing hype but only good informative content. Secondly, popular article sites are indexed quickly.
They also allow free text hyperlinks to your website, as compared to most press release sites where you have
to pay to get a link. All in all, article sites can have more SEO benefits for you: backlinks, and visibility.
Talk in Forums
Active and popular forums can guarantee fresh, updated content. It is the reason forums tend to rank higher in the search results. If you find topically-relevant forums where you can state your main search phrase with
a link to your site, you are sure to get some help. Just one note: don’t spam the forums. Always offer relevant, helpful information when linking back to your website.
Write in Content-Sharing Sites
Getting to write in Wikipedia can be real challenging, but it has always been worth it. If you can’t get there,
you can try the other wikis related to your niche like the Australian travel wiki, or Wikihow.com, or Aboutus.org, or even other popular social content sites. They might be using the “no follow tag” though, but they still persist in search results.
Create a Blog or a News Page in Your Domain
Having more pages published (and indexed, take note) in your website is always a good visibility strategy. You gain more presence in the search results page.
Do note gaining more visibility is subject to how competitive your target keyword is. The important thing is you just don’t obsess over your rankings. You create ways to make your website more visible, more established in the SERPs.

Great tips, Romela. It really is possible to get good visibility on Google, but you just have to work really hard to achieve it. Most business owners dont have time for it so they are best off hiring professionals to handle it for them. Good work!

Hi Romela,
That’s really good advice. I’m only just starting out, and I really want to climb the SERPs, but I’ve found it pretty difficult..
I’ve got say that I’ve heard a lot about promoting your site through Articles, but I’ve never tried it. Sounds hard to be honest - but I better give it a try!
Thanks

Hi Toyota Camry,
Yes article writing is effective when you want to gain visibility. Plus, you gain trust from readers since article sites do not publish marketing-hyped content, but informative ones.

i think that guest blogging is a remarkable idea… but to be able to write for high quality blogs, should you also have to have a decent reputation as good writer?
More likely, importing your blog to multiple syndication sites will also help. No matter the link is follow or no-follow, more link and exposure will also help to increase the chance for people to find your website.
Generally the advices are down to earth and realistic (White Hat). However, do take note that it is always advisable to create links in content that are related to the link out website. Writing in wikipedia is indeed challenging because at the end of the day, only related content links will be permanent.
I am glad that you pointed out not to obsess over your rankings but to look for more overall visibility. Sometimes the obsession on rankings can take away from core concepts like consistently adding quality content.
